Kosta glass was founded in 1742 by Anders Koskull and Bogislaus Stael Von Holstein. In 1746 Kosta was bought by Johan Wickenberg, and stayed in his family until 1893. Kosta became part of the Afors group in 1971, along with Afors and Boda, and later Johansfors. the group was bought by Upsala-Ekeby in 1975, and renamed Kosta Boda AB in 1976. Kosta Boda merged with Orrefors in 1990 to become Orrefors Kosta Boda, and in 1997 became part of The Royal Scandinavian Group. Designers who have worked at Kosta throughout the years include Gunnar Wennerberg, Alf Wallander, Elis Bergh, Vicke Lindstrand, Paul Hoff, Bengt Edenfalk, Anna Ehrner, and Klas-Goran Tinback.
