Stourbridge Glass (& Stourbridge Style) Guide + Gallery

The history of Stourbridge glass production began 400 years ago in the 17th century, when glassmakers from France moved to Stourbridge in the UK, due to the abundance of coal and clay. The glass industry in Stourbridge boomed during the Victorian era around 1900. Popular glass manufacturers from Stourbridge include Stevens & Williams (which became Royal Brierley Crystal in 1931), Thomas Webb and Boulton & Mills. The Stourbride glass industry is still very active today.

Note: A lot of Stourbridge style glass such as the examples shown below is actually turning out to be of Czech/Bohemian origin. It is often very difficult to tell the difference as the Czech glassware was designed specifically for the British market.
