Isle of Wight Studio/Michael Harris Tortoiseshell Glass Vase

Description

A beautiful sandy brown glass 'squat' vase, designed by Michael Harris in the 1970's, for his renowned British glassworks Isle of Wight Studio, part of the Tortoiseshell pattern range. Bears the flame pontil mark to base.

Please note: Although this vase is obviously too small to hold a bunch of flowers, it is still classed as a vase. Small vases like this were often used to hold flowerheads, or miniature "sweetpea" flowers, or simply used as decorative ornaments. Isle of Wight Studio did also make perfume bottles in this style, but unlike this vase they have the inside rim ground, to create a tight seal with the stopper.

Measures approx 2.75 inches tall by 5.25 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks.
