Murano Faceted Amber & Blue Sommerso Glass Block Bowl

Product Number: WS10046

 Sold / Reference

Description

Here is a wonderful Venetian glass bowl / ashtray, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Several Murano factories have made sommerso glassware in this faceted style, including Mandruzzato, Bucella Cristalli, Campanella, Oball, and V. Nason. Like with most sommerso glass, many inexperienced or untrustworthy sellers would attribute this to a Flavio Poli design for Seguso Vetri d'Arte, but there is no evidence that SVA ever made these (none shown in their factory catalogues, and none found with their labels) and plenty of evidence that other factories did. If other sellers that often make this mistake read this, please, fix your descriptions, and stop misleading your buyers. In a stunning combination of reddish purple glass cased in a band of amber glass, which is further encased in an angular block of pale blue glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique.

Size

Measures approx 2.5 inches tall by 2.75 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

No chips or cracks other than a couple of fleabites to the rim and edge, shown in final pictures.
