Murano Faceted Red & Amber Sommerso Glass Block Vase #2

Product Number: WS10242

 Sold / Reference

Description

Here is a wonderful Venetian glass vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Several Murano factories have made sommerso glassware in this faceted style, including Mandruzzato, Bucella Cristalli, Campanella, Oball, and V. Nason. Like with most sommerso glass, many inexperienced or untrustworthy sellers would attribute this to a Flavio Poli design for Seguso Vetri d'Arte, but there is no evidence that SVA ever made these (none shown in their factory catalogues, and none found with their labels) and plenty of evidence that other factories did. If other sellers that often make this mistake read this, please, fix your descriptions, and stop misleading your buyers. In a stunning combination of ruby red glass cased in a band of amber glass, which is further encased in an angular block of pale blue glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique.

Size

Measures approx 5.5 inches tall by 1.75 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Has a couple of fleabites to the rim, and signs of possible restoration to the outside rim where the bevelled edging is more noticeable.  This is very common with these items and hard to know if it was done at the factory or later.  All shown in final pictures.
