Iwatsu Japanese "Best Art Glass" Yellow, Blue & Red Bowl

Description

A multicoloured cased glass bowl/ashtray, made in Japan by the Iwatsu glassworks, part of their Hineri range. Often mistaken for Murano glass, but items from this range can be found with labels that read "IW, Hineri, Made in Japan". Often these were exported by a wholesaler / distributer named Kamei, and are sometimes labelled "Kamei, Made in Japan". This bowl has a different import label which reads "Best Art Glass, Foreign". Consists of multicoloured swirls encased in clear glass. Has a shallow concave polished pontil to the base.

Size

Measures approx 3.25 inches tall by 7.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

No chips or cracks, but the inside of the bowl does have a few black specks trapped in the glass from the manufacturing process, and also a couple of manufacturing air bubbles which have lost their surface. All shown in final pictures.
