Barovier & Toso Murano Cordonato Oro Gold Leaf Glass Vase

Product Number: WS10535

 Sold / Reference

Description

Here is a wonderful 1950/60's Venetian glass vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. This piece was made by Barovier & Toso, part of the 'Cordonato Oro' range. Very similar pieces can be seen in the book 'Italian Glass' by Leslie Pina, pages 31 - 32. In a stunning combination of green & clear cased glass, with loads of gold leaf inclusions encased in the glass.

Please note: Although this vase is obviously too small to hold a bunch of flowers, it is still classed as a vase. Small vases like this were often used to hold flowerheads, or miniature "sweetpea" flowers, or simply used as decorative ornaments.

Size

Measures approx 4 inches tall by 2.75 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Has a tiny nick to the base rim, shown in final picture, and some very minor internal staining from use.
