Wedgwood/Stennett-Willson Glass Textured Bowl - Marked

Product Number: WS08008

 Sold / Reference

Description

A stunning and unusual amber cased glass bowl by Wedgwood, marked to base. Designed by Ronald Stennett-Willson, pattern number RSW27, part of the textured range. This design is said to have been to commemorate the 1969 moon landing, and the pattern represents the "footprint" left on the moons surface by the lunar module. However the same pattern can be found on some vases from the textured range, which are shown in the book 20th Century British Glass by Charles Hajdamach page 331. The book describes the design as a "fleur-de-lis". The same vases can also be found on various websites described as a "snowflake" design. I am uncertain which description is correct.

Please note: the plastic stand is for display purposes only and is not included.

Size

Measures approx 2.25 inches tall by 5.25 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

No chips or cracks, just a couple of manufacturing flaws in the glass - an intact air bubble and a couple of dark patches, shown in final pictures, and a few minor surface scratches.
