RARE Large Murano Pulegoso Glass Jug/Pitcher/Vase

Product Number: WS10708

 Sold / Reference

Description

Here is a very rare magnificent Venetian glass stem vase in the style of a jug/pitcher, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy, circa 1930's. The glass is made up of thousands of tiny air bubbles to give a frothy effect, known as the pulegoso technique, made popular by Venini in the 1930's. Possibly designed by Napoleone Martinuzzi, who designed many pulegoso vases for several high end factories including Venini, AVeM and Zecchin Martinuzzi.

Size

Measures approx 13 inches tall by 6.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks. Due to the design there are a few "burst" bubbles on the surface, which is perfectly normal for pulegoso pieces. There is also a small spot of black glass near the rim, from the manufacturing process, and shown in final picture. Again this is very common for pulegoso.
