Isle of Wight Studio / Harris 'New Kyoto' Pink Glass Vase

Description

A beautiful pink and white glass miniature globe vase. Could also be a perfume bottle missing the stopper, although the inside rim is not ground to create a tight seal. This is part of the New Kyoto pattern range, designed by Michael and Elizabeth Harris in 1986, for the renowned British glassworks Isle of Wight Studio. It is from the rare Pink colourway, that was made only in 1987, as a special commission for Foster Fernandez. According to the Isle of Wight Glass Wiki website, the commission was part of a con by Foster Fernandez, who then sold them through the press without paying for them! Still bears the original label on the base.

Please note: Small vases like this, while obviously too small to hold a bunch of flowers, were often used to hold flower heads, or miniature "sweetpea" flowers, or simply used as decorative ornaments.

Measures approx 3.25 inches tall by 3 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks.
