Murano Green / Blue Venetian Glass Neodymium Swan Sculpture

Description

Here is a wonderful 1950/60's Venetian glass swan or duck sculpture, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Still bears the blue and silver "Rooster" Murano label, with the factory code "BD". It is currently unknown which factory this code relates to (they are not the factory initials). Made from neodymium glass (also known as alexandrite glass), which changes colour according to different lighting conditions. It appears smoky blue in natural sunlight or yellow artificial light, and turquoise green in fluorescent/white light. This is due to the presence of neodymium oxide (Nd²O³) in the glass.

Measures approx 6.75 inches tall by 5.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks.
