Here is an exquisite 1950/60's Venetian freeform glass toothpick holder/vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. This piece was made by AVEM (Arte Vetraria Muranese), part of their "Bizantino" series (more commonly known as "tutti-frutti") which was introduced in 1953. Similar items are shown in the book "AVEM, Arte Vetraria Muranese, Artistic Production 1932 - 1972" by Marc Heiremans (pages 106-109, 209, 218 and 222). Decorated with silver leaf, white Zanfirico lattice filigree, twisted ribbon canes, and copper Aventurine. All of this is surrounded with an inner casing of green glass, and an outer clear glass casing. A fabulous item, in a wonderful shape, it catches the light beautifully. Would make an excellent display piece!

Please note: Although this vase is obviously too small to hold a bunch of flowers, it is still classed as a vase. Small vases like this were often used to hold flowerheads, or miniature "sweetpea" flowers, or simply used as decorative ornaments.

Measures approx 3 inches tall by 2.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks.
