Barovier & Toso Murano Cordonato Oro Gold Leaf Pink Glass Lamp

Product Number: WS11004

 Sold / Reference

Description

Here is a wonderful large and heavy (2 kilos unpacked) 1950/60's Venetian glass lamp, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. This piece was made by Barovier & Toso, part of the 'Cordonato Oro' range. Very similar pieces can be seen in the book 'Italian Glass' by Leslie Pina, pages 31 - 32. In a stunning combination of pink & clear cased glass, with loads of gold leaf inclusions and controlled bubbles encased in the glass.

Please note: this lamp is in good working order, but I recommend consulting a qualified electrician before use, as I'm not sure how old the fittings are. The top connector for the bulb is metal, and it should be quite simple and safer to replace with a modern plastic fitting if required. The current fitting is for a regular bayonetted bulb, and the wire is fitted with a UK plug.

Size

Measures approx 16 inches tall by 5.75 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks. The only thing to mention, is the top metal bulb fitting has a slight lean to it, depending on the angle it is viewed. Shown in final picture. Probably not an issue at all when covered with an adjustable shade.
