Description

This is a magnificent Venetian glass miniature decorative jug / pitcher, circa 1900 - 1914, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Made by Fratelli Toso, similar items are shown in the book 'Venetian Glass - Confections in Glass 1855 - 1914' by Sheldon Barr, pages 114 - 119. Made up of loads of green, blue, pink + white floral millefiori murrine canes.

Please note: Although this vase is obviously too small to hold a bunch of flowers, it is still classed as a vase. Small vases like this were often used to hold flowerheads, or miniature "sweetpea" flowers, or simply used as decorative ornaments.

Size

Measures approx 3 inches tall by 2 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Has a nibble to the tip of the handle where it meets the body of the vase, shown in final picture.
