Large Murano/Sommerso Faceted Glass Block Vase

Product Number: WS04258

 Sold / Reference

Description

Here is a wonderful large 1950/60's Venetian glass vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Several Murano factories have made sommerso glassware in this faceted style, including Mandruzzato, Bucella Cristalli, Campanella, Oball, and V. Nason. Like with most sommerso glass, many inexperienced or untrustworthy sellers would attribute this to a Flavio Poli design for Seguso Vetri d'Arte, but there is no evidence that SVA ever made these (none shown in their factory catalogues, and none found with their labels) and plenty of evidence that other factories did. If other sellers that often make this mistake read this, please, fix your descriptions, and stop misleading your buyers. In a stunning combination of deep amber glass cased in a band of paler amber glass, which is further encased in an angular block of clear glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique.
