Description

A stunning, large and very heavy (3.6 kilos unpacked) Czech glass sculptural vase. In a stunning combination of purple and green glass encased in blue glass. Made by the Skrdlovice glassworks, designed by Jan Beránek in 1959, pattern number 5988. This piece is shown in the original Skrdlovice pattern book drawings, see last image (with kind permission, and copyright of Jindřich Pařík www.CzechGlassGuide.cz), and also shown in the excellent book Beránek & Skrdlovice, Legends in Czech Glass by Robert Bevan-Jones and Jindřich Pařík, page 42. This vase is also shown in the book "Hi Sklo Lo Sklo" by Mark Hill, page 27.

Size

Measures approx 11.25 inches tall by 5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks other than a few nicks to the base rim, shown in final picture, and an intact manufacturing air bubble inside the glass (not on the surface) near the rim.
