Description

A wonderful Victorian pressed glass posy trough, made in white milk glass (also known as vitro-porcelain glass. Made by British company Sowerby in the 1880's, and bears their trademark of a peacock on the base. This design, pattern number 1293½ is shown on page 5 of Sowerby's Illustrated Pattern Book No IX, issued in June 1882, and is known as "Oranges and Lemons", after Walther Crane's illustrations in a childrens nursery rhymes book. This particular colour range was called Blanc de Lait.

Size

Measures approx 1.75 inches tall by 4.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just a few manufacturing flaws in the glass, normal for these items.
