Victorian Yellow Pearline Glass 'Driftwood and Shell' Wall Vase

Product Number: WS05554

 Sold / Reference

Description

A wonderful Victorian yellow pearline glass wall pocket/vase. Made in uranium yellow glass, which glows bright green in UV light. Apparently shown in the book Opalescent Glass From A-Z, Revised Edition, by Heacock and Elmore. I don't have this book, but it apparently shows this design, and says a yellow example bares the registered design number 39807, which was registered on 18th December 1885 by the British company Burtles, Tate & Co. The pattern name is given as Driftwood and Shell in the book. Reference [click here]. However the only pieces I can find online which are marked with this number are quite different. Other possibilities would be Henry Greener or Davidson.

Size

Measures approx 6.75 inches tall by 4.25 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just a few manufacturing straw marks. There are also a couple of small dimples to the front of the handle, which could possibly be air bubbles which have lost their surface, but it might well just be part of the log pattern (see pics).
