Victorian Uranium Custard Glass Blue & Ivory Antique Vase

Product Number: WS09166

 Sold / Reference

Description

A wonderful Victorian 1890's opaque custard glass vase, with applied blue feet. Small amounts of uranium in the glass cause it to glow bright green in UV light. Custard glass was made by several Victorian era glass factories, including Stevens & Williams and Boulton & Mills from the Stourbridge area of England, and Czech/Bohemian maker Harrach.

Please note: Although this vase is obviously too small to hold a bunch of flowers, it is still classed as a vase. Small vases like this were often used to hold flowerheads, or miniature "sweetpea" flowers, or simply used as decorative ornaments.

Size

Measures approx 3.75 inches tall by 2.25 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just a tiny nick to the rim, shown in final picture.
