Thomas Webb Victorian Burmese Uranium Glass Vase

Product Number: WS09943

 Sold / Reference

Description

A wonderful 1890's Victorian Stourbridge glass vase. Made in pink + creamy yellow burmese glass, by the British firm Thomas Webb & Sons. This exact design is shown in the Thomas Webb section of the book Mt Washington Art Glass plus Webb burmese, page 71. Small amounts of uranium in the glass cause it to glow bright green in UV light.

Please note: Although this vase is obviously too small to hold a bunch of flowers, it is still classed as a vase. Small vases like this were often used to hold flowerheads, or miniature "sweetpea" flowers, or simply used as decorative ornaments.

Size

Measures approx 4 inches tall by 2.75 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

No chips or cracks, just some internal staining from use, shown in final picture.
