Murano Amber & Uranium Yellow Sommerso Glass Swan Figurine

Description

Here is a wonderful 1950/60's Venetian glass swan sculpture, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy.  In a stunning combination of reddish amber glass encased in yellow green glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique. The small amounts of Uranium in the glass cause it to glow bright green in UV light.

Size

Measures approx 5.25 inches tall by 3.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just a roughly broken pontil mark to the base, from where it was detached from the blowing rod, this is normal for handblown glass and not damage (shown in final picture).
