Galliano Ferro 'Tutti Frutti' Style Red Glass Bowl - Labelled

Description

A vintage Venetian freeform glass ashtray bowl, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Decorated with silver leaf, white lattice zanfirico strands, and multicoloured twisted ribbon canes. All of this is surrounded with an outer casing of red glass, with an inner layer of cream glass. Made by the Galliano Ferro factory, and still bears the original factory label. Very similar to the "tutti frutti" style Bizantino range made by AVEM (Arte Vetraria Muranese). Galliano Ferro was one of the founding members of AVEM, and when he left with his son Giorgio in 1955 to form his own company "Galliano Ferro", they clearly continued to make similar pieces for some time.
