Description

Here is a wonderful 1950/60's Venetian glass kidney shaped ashtray bowl, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Made by Seguso Vetri d'Arte, and designed by Flavio Poli, pattern number Z2650, in 1937. This design is shown in the online archives provided by Archivi del Centro Studi del Vetro. In a stunning combination of blue & clear cased glass, with lots of gold leaf inclusions, and a controlled bubble effect called bullicante. The bullicante technique was invented by Archimede Seguso in 1936, and consists of multiple layers of tiny bubbles in controlled alignments, giving an effect like boiling water.

Size

Measures approx 2 inches tall by 4.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just some wear to the inside from use, shown in final picture.
