Murano Geode Green & Blue Sommerso Glass Kidney Bowl

Description

Here is a wonderful 1950/60's Venetian glass 'geode' bowl/dish, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. This piece was probably made by Archimede Seguso or possibly Cenedese. Very similar items by these makers are shown in the book Italian Glass: Century 20 by Leslie Pina. In a stunning combination of green glass cased in a band of amber glass, which is further encased in blue glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique.

Measures approx 1.5 inches tall by 7.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks other than a couple of tiny fleabites to the rim, and signs of minor restoration/grinding to the rim, see final pic.
