Seguso Vetri d'Arte Murano Sommerso Uranium Glass Bottle Vase by Pinzoni

Description

A magnificent, large and heavy (1.5kg unpacked) Venetian glass bottle vase with matching stopper, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Attributed to Seguso Vetri d'Arte, and most likely designed by Mario Pinzoni. Very similar items are shown in the excellent book Seguso Vetri d'Arte - Glass Objects from Murano (1932-1973) by Marc Heiremans, pages 157, 158 & 161. Made in a stunning combination of amber glass cased in green glass, which is further encased in clear glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique. The small amounts of Uranium in the glass cause this to glow green in UV light.

Size

Measures approx 15 inches tall by 4 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just a little age wear to the base as to be expected. The white marks in the 5th photo are light reflections.
