Seguso Vetri d'Arte Murano Sommerso Glass Bottle Vase by Mario Pinzoni

Description

A magnificent Venetian glass bottle vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Attributed to Seguso Vetri d'Arte, and most likely designed by Mario Pinzoni. Very similar items are shown in the excellent book Seguso Vetri d'Arte - Glass Objects from Murano (1932-1973) by Marc Heiremans, pages 157, 158 & 161. In a stunning combination of amber glass encased in green glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique. May originally have had a matching stopper at some point, but if so this was purely decorative, as there is no grinding to the inside rim to give a tight seal. The small amounts of uranium in the glass cause this vase to glow green in UV light.

Measures approx 11 inches tall by 4 inches in diameter at widest point.

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks.
