Description

Here is a wonderful 1960's Venetian glass duck sculpture, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Made by SVCC Vetri d'Arte and designed by Flavio Poli. Still bears the blue and silver "Rooster" Murano label, with the factory code "AZ". This code was used for the SVCC factory. SVCC (Società Veneziana Conterie e Cristallerie) was the factory that the famous designer Flavio Poli worked for as artistic director (1964 - 1966), after leaving Seguso Vetri d'Arte in 1963. During this time, production moved from glass beads to art glass. This design is a close match to one shown in the Flavio Poli design drawings, which can be viewed online at the Corning Museum of Glass. In a stunning combination of brown glass cased in amber glass, which is further encased in clear glass, using the Venetian developed sommerso technique.

Measures approx 6.25 inches tall by 4 inches in diameter at widest point.
