Murano/Sommerso Faceted Red/Blue Glass Block Vase

Description

Here is a wonderful Venetian glass vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Several Murano factories have made sommerso glassware in this faceted style, including Mandruzzato, Bucella Cristalli, Campanella, Oball, and V. Nason. Like with most sommerso glass, many inexperienced or untrustworthy sellers would attribute this to a Flavio Poli design for Seguso Vetri d'Arte, but there is no evidence that SVA ever made these (none shown in their factory catalogues, and none found with their labels) and plenty of evidence that other factories did. If other sellers that often make this mistake read this, please, fix your descriptions, and stop misleading your buyers. In a stunning combination of ruby red glass cased in a band of blue glass, which is further encased in an angular block of paler blue glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique.

Measures approx 5.75 inches tall by 2 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks other than a tiny fleabite to the base corner, shown in final picture.
