John Walsh Victorian Vaseline/Uranium Glass Thorn Vase

Product Number: WS08611

 Sold / Reference

Description

A stunning Victorian 1890's British glass "thorn" vase. Consists of a tubular opalescent yellow green glass flower holder with rustic stylised tree root "feet", and pulled out thorns. A similar vase is shown in the book Victorian Decorative Glass by Mervyn Gulliver, page 98. Most likely made by John Walsh Walsh from Birmingham, England. Made in vaseline/uranium glass, which glows bright green in UV light.

Size

Measures approx 4.25 inches tall by 2.75 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

As usual with these pieces, there are some nibbles to the feet and thorns, all shown in final pictures. The vase has a slight wobble if "prodded", but stands fine if left alone.
