Description

A wonderful Victorian pressed glass basket weave bowl, made in blue milk glass (also known as vitro-porcelain glass. Made by British company Sowerby in the 1880's, and bears their trademark of a peacock on the inside base, as well as a design lozenge. This design, pattern number 1159 is shown on page 1 of Sowerby's Illustrated Pattern Book No IX, issued in June 1882. This particular colour range was called Turquoise.

Size

Measures approx 2.25 inches tall by 4.75 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Has a small nick or flaw to the inside rim, and a few small nicks to the base rim, all shown in final pictures. This piece also has some of the usual manufacturing flaws and discolouration commonly found in pressed glass of this style, see pics.
