Description

A stunning Victorian 1890's British glass "thorn" vase. Consists of a tapering tubular opalescent yellow green glass flower holder with twisted stem, rustic stylised tree root "feet", pulled out thorns and applied spiral trailing. An identical vase is shown in the book Victorian Decorative Glass by Mervyn Gulliver, page 98. Most likely made by John Walsh Walsh from Birmingham, England. Made in vaseline/uranium glass, which glows bright green in UV light.

Size

Measures approx 6.5 inches tall by 3 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks other than a very minor split in the applied trailing, shown in final picture. It is still completely intact and in no danger of coming away from the vase. The small thorns and feet tips amazingly all seem to be intact.
