Zelezny Brod Neodymium Glass Cat Signed by Miloslav Janku

Description

A stunning Czech glass sculpture of a cat, made in very unusual and quite rare neodymium glass (also known as alexandrite glass), which changes colour according to different lighting conditions!! The vase appears pink in natural sunlight or yellow artificial light, and smoky lilac in fluorescent/white light (see pictures)!This is due to the presence of neodymium oxide (Nd²O³) in the glass..

Made by the Zelezny Brod glassworks, also known as Železnobrodské Sklo (ZBS), designed by Miloslav Janku, signed to base, and still bears the generic "Bohemia Glass" label.

Size

Measures approx 5 inches tall by 2.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just a small and very faint bruise mark to the underneath side of the cats tail, hardly noticeable at all, and shown in final picture.
