Bayel French Neodymium Lilac / Blue Vintage Glass Vase

Description

This is a stunning French freeform glass sculpture bowl. Made by Bayel Art Glass, unmarked, but this design or close to it can be found online with their factory mark to the base. Made in very unusual and quite rare neodymium glass (also known as alexandrite glass), which changes colour according to different lighting conditions. The vase appears lilac in natural sunlight or yellow artificial light, and smoky blue in fluorescent/white light (see pictures). This is due to the presence of neodymium oxide (Nd²O³) in the glass.

Measures approx 7.25 inches tall by 4.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks other than a tiny nick to the base rim, shown in final picture.
