Murano Pink & Blue Sommerso Glass Retro Geode Bowl

Description

Here is a wonderful 1950/60's Venetian glass 'geode' bowl/dish, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. These bowls were made by several manufacturers, including Archimede Seguso and Cenedese.  Very similar items by these makers are shown in the book Italian Glass: Century 20 by Leslie Pina.  In a stunning combination of pink glass cased in blue glass, which is further encased in clear glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique. The pink can look more purple due to the layer of blue around it.

Measures approx 1.75 inches tall by 5.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks other than a couple of nicks to the rim, shown in final picture.
