Murano Red & Blue Sommerso Glass Vintage Kidney Geode Bowl

Description

Here is a wonderful 1950/60's Venetian glass kidney shaped 'geode' bowl/dish, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. These bowls were made by several manufacturers, including Archimede Seguso and Cenedese. Very similar items by these makers are shown in the book Italian Glass: Century 20 by Leslie Pina. In a stunning combination of red glass cased in blue glass, which is further encased in clear glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique.

Measures approx 1.75 inches tall by 3.75 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Has a couple of small nicks to the rim, shown in final pictures.
