Murano Venetian Brown & Amber Sommerso Glass Basket Vase

Description

Here is a wonderful Venetian organic glass basket shaped vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. In a stunning combination of reddish brown glass encased in amber glass, which is further encased in clear glass, using the Venetian developed sommerso technique. Factory currently unknown, but this design or one very close to it, is shown in the JICO import catalogues, in a group of designs by Arte Nuova. Reference: [click here].

Measures approx 7.75 inches tall by 5.25 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks other than a small nick to the base rim, shown in final picture, and a couple of minor surface scratches.
