Here is a wonderful Venetian glass vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. This style of glassware is usually attributed to Mandruzzato, although other manufacturers have made similar items, including Oball, Campanella and V. Nason. This particular vase still has the original label, a little worn, which reads "G Fort, Vetri Molati, Murano Venezia". Presumably, G Fort refers to Gino Fort, who was one of the original founders of the Gino Cenedese glassworks. In a stunning combination of purple glass cased in a band of amber glass, which is further encased in an angular block of clear glass, using the renowned Venetian Sommerso technique.

Measures approx 6.25 inches tall by 2 inches in diameter at widest point.

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just a couple of minor surface scratches to one side, shown in final picture.
