Barovier & Toso Murano Vintage Cordonato Oro Gold Leaf Glass Vase

Description

Here is a wonderful small 1950/60's Venetian clear glass vase filled with gold leaf inclusions, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. This piece was made by Barovier & Toso, part of the 'Cordonato Oro' range. Very similar pieces can be seen in the book 'Italian Glass' by Leslie Pina, pages 31 - 32.

Please note: Although this vase is obviously too small to hold a bunch of flowers, it is still classed as a vase. Small vases like this were often used to hold flower heads, or miniature "sweetpea" flowers, or simply used as decorative ornaments.

Size

Measures approx 3 inches tall by 4.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just a couple of intact air bubbles inside the glass to one side, perfectly normal for hand blown glass, and shown in final picture.
