Murano Polveri Gold Leaf Brown & Green Glass Fish Sculpture

Description

This is a magnificent large and heavy (1.7kg unpacked) 1960's Venetian sculptural glass fish sculpture, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. In a stunning combination of clear and dark smoky brown glass filled with gold leaf inclusions, using the polveri technique, surrounded by thick green swirls, with an applied amber and clear glass lobed pedestal base, and murrine flower canes for eyes. Very similar items can be found in the 1960's JICO (Jordan's Importing Company) import catalogues.

Measures approx 12.25 inches tall by 7.25 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Sadly has some damage - a chip, small fracture, and small area of restoration (ground out chip) to the three pulled out sections of the fins, all shown in final pictures. Priced accordingly.
