Description

Here is a very rare magnificent Venetian glass vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy, circa 1930's. The glass is made up of thousands of tiny air bubbles to give a frothy effect, known as the pulegoso technique, made popular by Venini in the 1930's. The design is attributed to Napoleone Martinuzzi, who designed pulegoso vases like this for several high end factories including Venini, AVEM and Zecchin Martinuzzi. Similar vases are featured in the book "Venetian Glass 1910 - 1960" by Sotheby's, see final picture.

Please note: the plastic stand is for display purposes only and is not included.

Size

Measures approx 7.75 inches tall by 7 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, other than a tiny rough spot to one of the handle sections. This is almost impossible to see, found by touch rather than sight, and could be a tiny nibble or a burst air bubble (common in pulegoso glass). I have tried to show this in the next to last picture.
