Welz Bohemian Oxblood Red, Blue & Cadmium Yellow Spatter Glass Vase

Description

An 1890's Bohemian oxblood red, blue and pink blown glass vase. Made using a technique known as "spatter" or "splatter" glass, with applied clear glass decoration and yellow inner casing. Made by the Franz Welz factory. Glows bright yellow in places under UV light, due to the presence of cadmium sulphide in the glass mixture.

Size

Measures approx 7.5 inches tall by 3.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Has a small stable crack where the top of the applied clear glass "handle" meets the main body of the vase, see 4th picture, and a burst air bubble to the base edge, see final picture.
