Description
A wonderful 1890's Victorian glass vase with yellow, pink and white diagonal stripes, and crimped "jack-in-the-pulpit" style rim. Most likely made by the Henry G Richardson factory, from the famous glassmaking town of Stourbridge, England. Items in this pattern are shown in one of their pattern books. A jug in a similar design is shown in the book Victorian Decorative Glass by Mervyn Gulliver, page 248. The author dates the piece to circa 1890, but no manufacturer is given. Rough pontil mark to base, probably left unpolished as the glass was too thin to grind and polish out the pontil.Size
Measures approx 3.5 inches tall by 3 inches in diameter at widest point.Condition
Excellent condition, no chips or cracks other than a couple of tiny nicks to the rim, shown in final picture. The extreme close up makes them look much worse than they actually are, they are very difficult to spot at all by the naked eye, see the video.British Glass On Ebay
