Stevens & Williams Victorian Silver Mica Pink + White Glass Vase

Product Number: WS12911

 Sold / Reference

Description

A wonderful 1890's Victorian glass vase. This exact design is attributed to Stevens & Williams, from the Stourbridge area of England, in the book Decorative Victorian Glass by Cyril Manley, page 66-67. The description from the book is as follows: "This is 3-cased, crystal over pale ruby, over white, with Stevens & Williams's usual silver fleck. Take particular note of the shape, which very occasionally is found on Continental glass, but lacks the weight of the English specimen. the folded top is almost a trademark of Stevens & Williams but with the added 3 casings, fleck and ground out pontil, it is certain it is made by the firm." As you can see, the author is pretty confident of his attribution, but the book is known to have a few errors elsewhere, so please bare this in mind.
