MARKED Barolac Art Deco Opaline / Opalescent Glass Palm Trees Plate

Description

A wonderful art deco glass plate/dish, made in opaline/opalescent glass and featuring a palm trees design. Marked "Barolac" to the base. Often mistaken as French, the name Barolac was registered by the UK importers John Jenkins and Sons Ltd. It was originally made by Czech factory Inwald (later known as Rudolfova Hut) in the 1930's, and mostly intended for the UK market. Most of the designs were created by Douglas Jenkins in collaboration with Rudolf Schrotter, who was the head designer at Inwald. After the war, the original iron moulds were used by other Czech factories during the 1950's and later.

Size

Measures approx 1.25 inches tall by 8 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just a couple of manufacturing straw marks, perfectly normal for pressed glass.
