Murano Geode Red & Turquoise Sommerso Glass Kidney Bowl

Description

Here is a wonderful 1950/60's Venetian glass 'geode' bowl/dish, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. These bowls were made by several manufacturers, including Archimede Seguso and Cenedese. Very similar items by these makers are shown in the book Italian Glass: Century 20 by Leslie Pina. In a stunning combination of ruby red glass encased in blue glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique.

Measures approx 2.25 inches tall by 4.75 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips of cracks other than a couple of really minute fleabites to the rim, shown in final pictures.
