LABELLED Venetian Glass Company Murano Style Orange & White Elephant

Description

A stunning large and heavy (1.6kg unpacked) Murano style white and orange speckled glass sculpture of an elephant. Made by Venetian Glass Company, which was a glass works in Blackpool, England, set up and operated by Franco Toffolo in the 1960's - 1980's. Franco previously worked for Venini in 1946-1950. He moved to the UK in 1965 and set up Venetian Glass Company, which made Murano style glassware such as this elephant. He later became a Master glassmaker at Caithness. Still bears the original factory label.

Size

Measures approx 10 inches tall by 6 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks (checked all over very carefully). There is one manufacturing flaw, in the form of a blob of extra black glass near one of the eyes, shown in final picture.
