Fratelli Toso Millefiori Canes Murano Blue & White Glass Vase

Description

This is a magnificent Venetian glass miniature vase or posy bowl, circa 1900 - 1914, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Made by Fratelli Toso, the same shape is shown in the book 'Fratelli Toso Italian Glass 1854-1980' by Leslie Pina, page 33. Made up of loads of blue, white, green + yellow floral millefiori murrine canes, with applied handles.

Please note: Although this vase is obviously too small to hold a bunch of flowers, it is still classed as a vase. Small vases like this were often used to hold flowerheads, or miniature "sweetpea" flowers, or simply used as decorative ornaments.

Size

Measures approx 1.75 inches tall by 3 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks.
