Description

This is an exquisite 1950's or earlier Venetian glass sculptural dolphin place holder, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. It was produced by Salviati, and similar items are shown in the excellent book "Venetian glass of the 1890's: Salviati at Stanford University" by Carol M. Osborne, page 168 onwards, and also in the book "Italian Glass" by Leslie Pina, page 177. The wonderfully detailed sculpture of a dolphin is filled with gold leaf inclusions.

Size

Measures approx 3.5 inches tall by 2.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks.
