LABELLED Seguso Vetri d'Arte Murano Glass Candlestick Holder

Description

Here is a wonderful Venetian turquoise glass candlestick holder, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Made by Seguso Vetri d'Arte, and most likely designed by Flavio Poli. Still bears the original factory label, which reads "Seguso, Murano, Made in Italy". This label is shown in the excellent book Seguso Vetri d'Arte - Glass Objects from Murano (1932-1973) by Marc Heiremans, page 379, fig 37, and according to the book, was in use from 1953 until the second half of the 1950's. During this time, Flavio Poli was the artistic director of the factory, and therefore the most likely designer of this piece.

Size

Measure approx 3 inches tall by 3.75 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Has a couple of chips to the side of the base, shown in final pictures.
