Description

Here is a wonderful 1950/60's Venetian glass 'geode' bowl/dish, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. These bowls were made by several manufacturers, including Archimede Seguso and Cenedese. Very similar items by these makers are shown in the book Italian Glass: Century 20 by Leslie Pina. In a stunning combination of dark pinkish glass cased in a band of amber glass, which is further encased in pale blue glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique.

Size

Measures approx 2 inches tall by 4.25 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

No chips or cracks other than a minor partially ground + polished out nibble to one edge of the rim, and signs of restoration to another rim edge, all shown in final picutres, and common for these items.
